The Blanka Mine
The Blankagruvan project is located in Bergslagen, centred around a historical iron ore field, where radiometric measurements and historical data indicate the presence of uranium in connection with older mining environments and waste rock heaps.
Project focus
Sampling of uranium-bearing waste rock piles
Clarify the extent and origin of the identified uranium mineralisation.Radiometric and magnetic surveys
Defines potential extensions of the historical iron ore trend.
The Blanka Mine is located in Bergslagen and lies within a small, historical iron ore field. The technical relevance of the project is based on the correlation between older iron ore mining, radiometric indications and historically reported levels of uranium, yttrium, lanthanides and molybdenum.
Crustal's work at the Blanka Mine is focused on better understanding the relationship between the historical mine shafts, the waste dumps and the magnetic trend that represents the previously mined iron ore. Radiometric measurements have confirmed strongly anomalous rocks in the waste dumps, while ground magnetic surveys indicate that the magnetic trend continues north of the historical mine shafts.
As parts of the mining area are subject to cultural heritage protection, the project needs to be conducted in stages and with the correct permits. The next technical phase involves creating better data for potential physical sampling and delimiting which parts of the area are most relevant for further investigation.
