Bergslagen is one of Sweden's classic mining areas and represents a natural environment for Crustal's work with strategic metals. In the district, Crustal works with projects where historical iron ore mining coincides with documented indications of uranium and rare earth elements.
In Blankagruvan, the work is based on a historical iron ore field where parts of the old waste rock heaps exhibit strong radiation and high levels of uranium. Radiometric and magnetic measurements are used to understand the relationship between waste rock heaps, historical mining environments and the extent of the iron ore zone.
Malmkärra is located in Norberg Municipality and is part of the so-called REE line in Bergslagen. The project is linked to old iron ore mines where analyses from previous iron ore mining showed high total levels of rare earth elements.
Crustal's working model in Bergslagen is based on putting together historical mining environments, previous analysis, radiometry and magnetics to progressively delineate the most relevant target areas. The goal is to build a clearer technical foundation around the documented metal indications and determine which projects have the best potential for further development.
